We don’t wanna grow up, and thankfully, Disney is taking us back to the early aughts and one of the most nostalgic movies of that time: Freaky Friday . Rumors of a potential sequel had been swirling for years after both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan expressed interest in reprising their roles for a follow-up. Now, it’s been confirmed that a sequel is in the works, and both lead actresses, as well as a few of their co-stars, will be returning.
Meanwhile, a few new stars have been added to the cast, including Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who is best known as the star of Netflix’s Never Have I Ever and Sophia Hammons, who made her feature debut in the Netflix docudrama The Social Dilemma. Julia Butters and Manny Jacinto will also be joining the cast.The sequel will be directed by Nisha Ganatra.Nisha Ganatra has been confirmed as the director of Freaky Friday 2, which will be her first directing credit since 2020’s The High Note.
