A massive wildfire broke out in Malibu near Pepperdine University, prompting evacuations in the area.The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a call of the "Franklin Fire" near Malibu Canyon Road late Monday night. The fire is expected to force evacuations for areas impacted by the fire, which is north of the Pepperdine campus.At last check, the fire stretched to about 100 acres, according to the LA County Fire Department.
Pepperdine University said the fire is not considered a threat to its campuses as of midnight on Tuesday, December 10, but school officials said they will continue to monitor the Franklin Fire.The fire broke out as parts of Los Angeles County were under a red flag warning through 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 10.
