Cannabis entrepreneurs thinking ahead about how to promote next year’s Valentine’s products might want to label them with one or more of four words, research shows.
“This Valentine’s Day, we saw unprecedented spikes amongst related products demonstrating an increased popularity and prevalence of legal cannabis for Cupid’s holiday,” Ryan Smith, executive chairman of LeafLink said by email. “As more states legalize, and cannabis becomes more legally accessible, we expect the trend to continue upwards.”a majority of Americans polled by Wired Research said they planned to incorporate cannabis into their plans for this year’s Valentine’s Day.
Another finding from the research that touches on the age factor: Gen Z and Millennials were significantly more likely than Gen X and Boomers to include cannabis in their Valentine’s Day plans . Of course the media jumped on this cannabis trend as a happy news story giving readers respite from all the bleak news out there: The
heralded cannabis for Valentine’s Day with the headline “More Lovers Will Spark Weed for Romance This Valentine’s Day.” Thetitled its story “Flowers — or weed? Marijuana is now part of Valentine’s Day plans for majority of Americans.” Andtake was “Cannabis Flowers Instead of Roses? Why You Should Give the Gift of Weed This Valentine’s Day.”
In short, cannabis businesses which later this year will be gearing up for Valentine’s Day 2024 just as they will soon gear up for Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s and 4/20 might want to ditch images of roses and chocolate and instead zero in on the products — and words — that all those American sweethearts out there really want.
