Pasadena, Escobar defeat Channelview 6-3

Pasadena pitcher Xavier Escobar works on Channelview leadoff batter Edward Moreno in the seventh inning Wednesday night. Escobar threw 81 pitches in guiding the Eagles to a 2-1 district record. At the moment, it looks like District 22-6A could be getting a brand-new baseball representative for the 6A state playoffs this spring.

Pasadena employed a four-run fifth inning to regain the precious lead and pitcher Xavier Escobar made it stick for the final six outs as the Eagles defeated the Falcons 6-3 in Game 1 of their best-of-two series at Maguire Field Wednesday night. So defeating a district state playoff team from last season is big. A win on Friday in Channelview would be even bigger.

Escobar needed just 81 pitches to go the seven-inning distance. He forced the Falcons to put goose eggs on the scoreboard for every inning but the fifth when the visitors scored three go-ahead runs.
