Former Nevada Attorney General and key Trump ally Adam Laxalt is set to serve as the head of a super PAC supporting Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) as a potential 2024 presidential primary contest between the two men continues to simmer.
Laxalt will chair the Never Back Down super PAC, according to the Associated Press. The news comes amid tensions between former President Donald Trump and DeSantis, although DeSantis is not a declared 2024 presidential candidate.Trump has snagged several high-profile Florida congressional endorsements, but Laxalt joining Never Back Down marks a win for DeSantis.
DeSantis is Trump's biggest primary challenger, according to polling, although Trump continues to lead among GOP primary voters. A recent Wall Street Journal poll shows Trump dominating DeSantis by 13 percentage points, 51% to 38%.
