One coach rescinded his offer and apologized to the school, while another HBCU entered the mix in what has been a roller coaster recruitment for Marcus Stokes.
“Let me start with a humble apology,” Gray said according to HBCU Gameday. “An apology for not honoring the tradition and history of ASU and for letting many of you down.
So, Albany State is out for the strong-armed senior passer from Florida’s Ponte Vedra Nease High. But, on Twitter, Stokes said that he has another offer from Alabama A&M, which is also an HBCU. And he also tweeted that he had an offer from West Florida. “I was in my car listening to rap music, rapping along to the words and posted a video of it on social media,” he wrote on Twitter following the uproar. “I deeply apologize for the words in the song that I chose to say. It was hurtful and offensive to many people, and I regret that.”
