A member of the 2016 World Series champion Chicago Cubs suffered a fracture while making a catch on Tuesday night.
Contreras broke in with the Chicago Cubs in 2016 and played on their World Series championship team. He played his first seven Major League seasons with the Cubs before he moved on to the Cardinals.
He has been diagnosed with a fracture in his left forearm and it’s not clear how long he will be out.have him moved up closer to the plate. However, JD Martinez's bat hit Contreras on the left forearm during his swing.The Venezuelan native was off to a great start at the plate, as he slashed .280/.398/.551/.949 in 31 games with six home runs and 12 RBI.
He made his Major League debut on June 19, 2016, and became one of a handful of players to hit a home run in their first MLB at-bat. He batted .282 in 76 games with 12 home runs and 35 RBI.
