Authorities said Darren Frank McCoy, who was also a coach in Alabama, recorded teens in “various stages of undress without their knowledge or consent.”
At a hearing Wednesday, two women told the court how their life had been affected by McCoy, who was their gymnastics coach, the release said.
The investigation into McCoy began in 2019 when he had been on a cruise ship that docked in Galveston, federal authorities said. McCoy was sent to secondary inspection after authorities learned of a prior child pornography investigation from 2015. The videos showed teens changing their clothes or showering in a bathroom, a gym and at a hotel for a cheerleading competition. Authorities did a later search at his home in McKinney and found two covert recording devices, the release said.
