Tensions between some residents and city officials ran high at a special village board meeting Saturday as current Trustee Freddie Wilson was appointed acting mayor of struggling south suburban Ford Heights.

"What you all doing up there, I have no clue, but its no good," south suburban resident Jackie Johnson said. Whatever the mayor might have made mistakes doing, that was on the mayor. Don't hold me accountable for what the mayor did."People got questions," south suburban resident Willie Robinson said. "They want to know. They just shut everybody down, so I'm slightly disappointed."
Trustee Jimmy Viverette voted yes, despite being told by authorities he must step down by the end of the month because of a prior criminal conviction.The board's most-senior Trustee Tina McMichaels, who is considering a run for mayor in the spring, claims the other trustees got together in private and decided to install Wilson without her input.
