The last-place Yankees kicked their youth movement into a higher gear on Tuesday.
Bader, however, is still with the Yankees while they wait to see if he will be claimed. After not starting two of the Yankees’ last four games, Bader was in manager Aaron Boone’s lineup for Tuesday night’s game with the Tigers batting sixth and playing center.
If Bader departs, the Yankees may call up 20-year-old switch-hitter Jasson Dominguez to play center field in September. Bader was on the injured list for the Yankees’ first 30 games with an oblique strain and missed another 16 games in June with a hamstring strain.
