As the former President and Vice President prepare for their first, and perhaps only, debate, Trump leads Harris in the polls.

FILE - Ben Carson , former Housing and Urban Development Secretary, speaks at CPAC in Dallas, Aug. 4, 2022. Former President Donald Trump has narrowed his vice presidential shortlist to a handful of contenders that include Carson , as he prepares to announce his pick in the days before, or perhaps at, next month's Republican National Convention.

Former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Ben Carson says that Tuesday night’s debate is different from any other presidential debate because the American people do not know Harris and what she stands for. “This election is not so much about democrats and republicans as it is about people who believe in America, believe in our founding principles, and people who think we are the wrong country and that they need to fundamentally change it,” said Carson. “All you have to do is look at regimes of people like Stalin and Maduro and Castro to see what those do to an economy.”“You will see each of the candidates trying to get under the other one’s skin,” Carson said.

Carson said he believes that Harris may not understand the economy with some of her proposals like price controls and rent capping. “Trump, on the other hand, will be coming up with probably some new and interesting ideas,” Carson said. “He will be talking about expanding opportunities on things that raise the economy for everybody.”
