Other cities and towns in the warned area include Leander, Hutto, Liberty Hill, Jarrell, Florence, Thrall, Georgetown Dam, Sun City, Coupland and Walburg. Two to four inches of rain has already fallen in the area, and additional rainfall is expected throughout the day. A flash flood warning is issued when sudden, violent floodwaters are imminent or already happening,People driving in Williamson County are encouraged to"turn around, don't drown" when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, the NWS says. In hilly areas, there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. At least 16 low water crossings in Williamson County are closed due to high water, the NWS says.This is a developing story.
