Ormskirk is to welcome an Irish bar back to the town for the first time since the early 2000s. Murphy's Irish Bar is set to open on Aughton Street and replaces No.9 Bar, which has closed suddenly.
The town centre building has had several guises over the past decade, including a vegan cafe, with the most recent bar opening in July 2020. No.9 Bar was popular for its pool table, cocktail menu, live sport and outdoor seating.The West Lancashire town has not had an Irish bar for almost 20 years, following the closure of O'Connors on Church Street in 2005.
Murphy's is the latest in a string of new hospitality business to open in the town, which is home to Edge Hill University. It joins bottleshop and taproom Kas Social, Italian tapas restaurant Luca at the Buck and food and drink hub Ormskirk Market.
