The Michigan mother of two boys who died after having been left inside a burning home in Flint is seeking $50 million from the city, a new court filing says.
on the second floor of the house without finding anyone there.
Flint City Attorney Bill Kim declined to comment on the new court filing in a statement to MLive-The Flint Journal on Wednesday, Feb. 8, saying only that the “loss of children is the deepest tragedy that any family can endure, and we join the Flint community in mourning Lamar and Zyaire Mitchell.” “To a medical degree of certainty, both Lamar and Zyaire would have survived if Defendants had followed orders by commanding officers to conduct a primary search ...,” the lawsuit says. “There was more than enough time to evacuate both ... to safety had these Defendants actually performed a primary search of the second-floor bedrooms where they were ultimately found.”
The lawsuit says that in addition to the search for entrapment victims having been called off because of the all-clear declaration, a second paramedic unit was not sent to the scene immediately, delaying medical care for Zyaire Mitchell, the second brother to be found.
