The fire was continuing to burn Tuesday afternoon as Northwest Arctic Borough volunteer firefighters responded to the blaze. It wasn’t immediately clear whether anyone was hurt.

Multiple Kivalina residents said the fire broke out at the local bingo hall and spread to at least one other structure, the new community building. The fire from the Kivalina bingo hall spread to the community building next to it on Tuesday afternoon, April 9.
