Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy accused Russia of setting the fire, while Russia's foreign ministry blamed Kyiv for attempting to create 'nuclear terror'.
The IAEA has called for immediate access to assess damage at Zaporizhzhia, as conflicting claims continue to emerge from both sides.On Sunday, Europe ’s largest nuclear power plant, the Zaporizhzhia facility in southern Ukraine , witnessed a dramatic and dangerous development as a fire broke out on its grounds.
“These reckless attacks endanger nuclear safety at the plant and increase the risk of a nuclear accident. They must stop now,” warned Rafael Grossi, IAEA’s chief, as reported by. The IAEA has not assigned blame for the incident but has called for an immediate assessment to determine the extent of the damage.
In a statement on X , the IAEA mentioned that the plant had reported a potential drone attack on one of the cooling towers.
