Four people were treated for smoke inhalation after the fire Monday in Avon Lake.

AVON LAKE, Ohio — Firefighters rescued two people from a third-floor window and four people were treated for smoke inhalation Monday after a fire broke out at an apartment complex.

Two residents were seen signaling from the third-floor window, which was above the apartment that was on fire. Firefighters were able to get a ladder to the window and get the residents to the ground safely. Firefighters from Avon, Sheffield Village, Sheffield Lake, Elyria Township, North Ridgeville, Bay Village, Westlake and Fairview Park also responded. No firefighters were injured.
