The outrage over the sexual assault cases in Waco seems to matter less and less as...

Kendal Briles, hired by TCU as its offensive coordinator, was most recently at Arkansas after stops at Florida Atlantic, UH and Florida State after leaving Baylor in wake of school's sexual assault cases and the firing of his father, Art Briles.Used to be, the easiest feat in the world was to declare oneself morally superior to Baylor.

This proved convenient for anybody in sports who needed to deflect attention from their own questionable behavior or decisions. And few loved playing the Baylor card more than those who counted themselves among the Bears’ biggest rivals. But year by year, little by little, the same schools that were sure they’d never overlook what Baylor did keep doing exactly that.

Briles was, however, named in a 2017 Title IX lawsuit which alleged he told a Dallas-area recruit: “Do you like white women? Because we have a lot of them at Baylor and they love football players.”, three Houston-area players who went to other programs said Briles told them during their recruitment that female students at Baylor were “very available” to football players.

This guy, who’s been moderately successful in stops as an offensive coordinator at Florida Atlantic, Houston, Florida State and Arkansas, but by no means has set the college football world on fire. Who, really, was held accountable in the long run? Former Baylor athletic director Ian McCaw has held the same job at Liberty University since 2016. Kenneth Starr resigned as Baylor’s chancellor in 2016, saying, “The captain goes down with the ship,” but later got a job working on former President Donald Trump’s legal team during his first impeachment trial. Starr died in 2022.
