End of Sentence." won an Oscar for Best Documentary Short. “I can’t believe a film about menstruation just won an Oscar,” said director Rayka Zehtabchi, who is 25 years old, in her emotional acceptance speech. She shared the stage with producer Melissa Berton and the rest of the crew.
The documentary, which was produced by Netflix, sheds light on the rural village of Hapur, outside of Delhi, India. The women there to improve access to sanitary products and reduce the stigma around menstruation. This operation helps empower girls and women in several ways. First, if a girl has access to sanitary products, she will be able to attend school, even while she is bleeding.
