Chuck Schumer on Tuesday at Monroe Community College downtown as he announced a highly sought-after federal investment that aims to make Upstate New York an epicenter for the country's semiconductor future.
"It means within a few years, a quarter of all semiconductors made in the United States of America will be made within a few miles of our I-90 corridor — running from Albany to Syracuse to Rochester to Buffalo," Schumer said.The region is the only one of 12 in the nation to receive $40 million in federal grants to help accelerate and grow semiconductor production.
