The charges allege Thissel and Johnson were involved in the August 2022 murder of Irah Mercel Sok in Everett.
FILE - A woman was shot in the head and killed early in the day during home invasion near Everett, Wash., in August 2022.
Kevin Thissel, 28, and Christopher Johnson, 23, were part of a crew that broke into homes in the middle of the night and tied up families with zip ties while their homes were ransacked, according to an unsealed indictment filed in U.S. District Court.“The primary motive for this robbery crew was money — stealing any valuables they could ransack from these homes. Tragically, they shot and killed one young mother as her 7-year-old child lay next to her in bed,” said Tessa Gorman, the U.S.
"These men targeted certain families for robberies," Gorman said. "To create a climate of fear, these men burst into their homes in the middle of the night, dressed in black, claiming to be police, and with guns drawn."
