Three people are believed to have died in a two-vehicle crash in South Brunswick after their minivan caught fire. The road may be closed for up to eight hours.
Friday, April 12, 2024 5:46PMAs many as three people are believed to be dead after a two-vehicle crash in South Brunswick on Friday morning, police say.Police believe the three people inside the minivan, including a driver and two passengers, were killed in the crash after the vehicle caught fire.
Authorities said the flames were so intense that it would have been impossible to save anyone inside.Drivers are asked to avoid the area as the road may be closed for up to eight hours. The van was owned and operated by Community Options, a Princeton-based organization that provides transportation and day programs to help developmentally disabled people.
"Our heart goes out to the two people with severe disabilities who we have supported and to the staff person. Our prayers are with the families and all of their loved ones. We are crest fallen and deeply saddened," Community Options' Robert Stack said in a statement.Editor's note: An earlier version of this story stated the minivan was carrying senior citizens. Police are now unsure if that is the case, this story will be updated as more information becomes available.
