The 40-year-old died last month during intake into a mental hospital, according to reports.
“Even though he may have been struggling with the past, CTE and mental illness caused him to do some things that brought a lot of shame. And, he told me, he told me he had just had so much change from where his life had been and where it was. And he said the shame was just almost unbearable, but he still believed that he could become a role model for those who were experiencing and who are experiencing similar situations.His mother said she has questions that she wants answered.
“Were proper protocols followed after his death?” she added. “These are the questions that I and the family are posing to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.”
