Jimmy Carter, the oldest living U.S. president of all time, has died according to his son at his home in Plains, Georgia.A cold front that pushed into Utah overnight Sunday into Monday brought heavy snowfall to the Cottonwood Canyons, creating hazardous road conditions.
By 5 a.m. Monday, blizzard-like conditions could be seen in both Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons on state traffic cameras, prompting the Utah Department of Transportation to implement the Traction Law on SR-190 and SR-210. UDOT crews reported that roads in lower Big Cottonwood Canyon were wet and slushy, while conditions at mid-elevations were icy and snow-packed. Snow accumulation increases about 4.25 miles up the canyon, past Storm Mountain. In Little Cottonwood Canyon, roads in lower elevations were wet with light snow, while mid-elevations were snowy and windy. Most road snow begins about six miles up the canyon, past Church Vault.
Motorists are urged to remain cautious of slick roads and possible icy spots, particularly on high-elevation routes.
