EXCLUSIVE: Ex On The Beach's Chloe Goodman exclusive - 'botched surgery scarred me for life'

In an Instagram world, it’s safe to say that right now the pursuit of perfection has never been more prominent among women. And for some, the struggle for body confidence means going to extreme lengths to keep up with changing trends of how a "perfect" woman should look – even if those role models are distorted and heavily filtered.

Chloe says the pressures of fame and a "bad break-up" had prompted her to jet off to the clinic on a whim. Thinking of the danger that she put herself in, Chloe admits she was not in the best frame of mind to have made such a huge decision. Chloe was left in agony when doctors accidentally stitched her bladder to her womb during her second pregnancy.

Chloe, who also has a three-year-old daughter, Isla, with Middlesbrough FC defender Grant Hall, 31, who is currently on loan to Rotherham United, claims she was not told about the risks involved beforehand. While Chloe has had to come to terms with the aesthetic complications of an operation gone wrong, she has heard horrific tales of other women whose surgery has backfired, with some having had organs removed.

The cost of overseas procedures can be a fifth of the price of that in the UK, and consequently is seen as a budget-friendly way for girls to get their dream body. "They started the surge of going abroad [for surgery]. Certain celebrities won’t have surgery in the UK, because no surgeon will touch them, because it’s unethical to do so. They go abroad because they’re going to get what they want, even if it means risking their health – because some of these surgeons are unethical and don’t have morals.

"I look on Instagram and everyone’s gorgeous. There are pretty people all over the world. You go out and there are different types of pretty people, whereas on Instagram everyone’s edited themselves to look the same," she adds. It’s important to recognise that no cosmetic surgery is without risk, whether it’s carried out at home or abroad.
