Director Fede Alvarez gives a new look at his EvilDead reboot, which is celebrating its 9-year anniversary in 2022.
A new video from director Fede Alvarez reveals never before seen photos from the set of Evil Dead. After Army of Darkness in 1992, Sam Raimi left horror fans craving Evil Dead 4 with Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams. That unfortunately never happened, but in 2013, the series was rebooted by Alvarez, with Williams having a short cameo in the post-credits scene before returning to lead the franchise in Ash vs. Evil Dead two years later.
An Evil Dead reboot isn’t exactly what many were hoping for, but it did fairly well with both critics and long-time fans of the franchise. The reboot included all new characters who visit the iconic cabin and read from the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, roughly translated to Book of the Dead. Unlike many horror reboots in the last decade, Evil Dead was able to successfully modernize the franchise while also paying homage to the films that came before it.

In addition to these behind-the-scenes-photos, the director has revealed an Evil Dead script page that involved Mia’s death, but Raimi convinced the director that Levy’s character deserved to live given how much she had endured throughout the hour and a half movie.
Despite Mia being the sole survivor of the reboot, it doesn’t look like Evil Dead 2 will ever happen. Evil Dead Rise is heading to HBO Max later this year from director Lee Cronin, which means Warner Bros. will be more inclined to continue the franchise with that movie’s storyline if it is a success.
