EVgo knows the public fast-charging experience is frustrating and arcane and is working to make improvements.
EVgo showed us a demo using a Tesla Model 3 at a local charging site. Besides having to attach the Tesla CCS Combo 1 adapter, it was just that easy: no tapping a card, no looking for the charger's name or fiddling with the app. It was simply plug in and charge, just like using a Tesla Supercharger. However, for Tesla drivers, there's something to be aware of.
In order to create a whitelist of identifiers, EVgo works with each automaker to make sure it can assign every individual EV a unique identifier. In order to prevent fraud, EVgo created an algorithm to check on time, location, and state of charge when an EV is connected to an EVgo fast charger.
