As the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue, the fate of the 2023 Emmys remains uncertain. Here’s your cheat sheet for the 75th edition of the ceremony, from when it might take place to the biggest contenders in all the major categories.

This will depend on how long the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes last. A date had previously been set for the 2023 Emmys—September 18—but, per, vendors for the show were informed on July 27 that the ceremony would be delayed. It marks the first time the Emmys have been pushed back since 2001, in the wake of 9/11 and the war in Afghanistan. A new date for the 2023 show is expected to be announced in early August.

The publication reports that the TV Academy is pushing for a date in November, while the show’s broadcaster, Fox, would prefer to air it in January 2024. On one hand, placing the Emmys at the beginning of next year, in the midst of awards season, could make it feel stale . But, then again, given the current stalemate, January may be more realistic.
