From Eva Mendes to Vin Diesel, several actors have quit the Fast and Furious franchise over the years. But plenty have made their way back.
Despite the franchise’s focus on family and friendship, there are several actors in the Fast and Furious saga who have abandoned their characters in the past over a wide variety of disputes and arguments. Although plenty of these actors ultimately returned to their roles and came back to the franchise, several departures have caused serious shake-ups to the story that directors and writers have worked hard to integrate into the long-running story of Dom Toretto and his crew.
2 Eva Mendes Eva Mendes didn’t appear until the second Fast and Furious movie, but her character quickly became a fan-favorite thanks to her budding romance with Paul Walker’s protagonist Brian O’Conner. While she did appear once again in the post-credits of Fast Five, informing Hobbs about a military convoy being hijacked in Berlin, the character has been noticeably absent from all other sequels.
However, as the official story goes, Statham was simply too busy filming Hobbs & Shaw to make an appearance in F9. There was plenty of backstage drama surrounding these two movies, particularly regarding the rivalry between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, but Statham has frequently stated his enthusiasm and enjoyment of the franchise - and even came back as Deckard Shaw in Fast X.
