Evan Fournier On Knicks: There's No Way They're Gonna Keep Me - RealGM Wiretap
Evan Fournier has enjoyed his time with the New York Knicks. Fournier is also realistic that his time in New York is likely coming to an end.
“You know I’m not gonna be back,” Fournier said. “There’s no way they’re gonna keep me. I would be very surprised if they do. So, we’ll see. It’s obviously not in my hands though.” The veteran wing was dropped from the Knicks rotation early in the season. Fournier appeared in a career-low 27 games last season with seven starts. Despite the lack of action, Fournier was regularly lauded for his attitude and staying ready when his number was called. The 11-year veteran knows New York is invested in young players and that his $18.9 million salary is a reason he could be traded.
“I mean, wouldn’t you guys be surprised [if I came back?],” Fournier added. “Eleven years in, big contract, they’re obviously trying to develop the young guys. I didn’t play this year, so why would you bring me back?”
