As the NHL Draft Lottery closed on in its apex on Monday night NHL insider and ex-Rangers goalie Kevin Weekes revealed a little too much as ESPN cut to commercial.
When ESPN came back from the break — which also included some highlights of Bedard, lauded as a generational talent — the network showed Daly officially revealing the Blue Jackets’ placard for the No. 3 pick.The franchise came into the lottery with the third-highest odds after an audacious tank during the 2023 season that saw the Blackhawks trade Kane to the Rangers and captain Jonathan Toews play what was likely his final game with the team.

“We’re going to get a great player at 3, there’s no question about it in my mind,” Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said on a video call with reporters. “Everyone wants to win the lottery, then everything is your control, and obviously everybody’s talked about a special player at the top of the rankings. But we’re confident that we’re going to get a big difference-maker at 3.”
