In Dallas County, several incumbents also lead the way in the races, according to unofficial results. Incumbent and board president David Caviness has

54.43% of the vote for Coppell ISD Place 5. He said he plans to focus on attracting and retaining high quality teachers to give students the best opportunities possible. “I’m honored and humbled by the community,” said Caviness. “I think they chose experience in this race. This campaign has always been about making sure that we take care of our students and teachers and secure our facilities.”

In Dallas County, school districts including Highland Park, Cedar Hill, Coppell, Richardson and DeSoto had a total of eight contested races for spots on the boards. In Highland Park, the only contested race was for Place 6, and in Cedar Hill the only contested race was for Place 5. In Collin County, the Allen, Frisco, McKinney and Plano school districts had nine contested races for spots on the boards. In Allen, the only contested race was for Place 7. Plano and McKinney each had three places on the ballot.

That was my first time seeing dancers that looked like me, skintones, body type, dancing to music that I would be interested in dancing to,' Katricia said. That's when she became interested in dancing and attending the Dallas Black Theater Academy. After graduating and joining the Dallas Black Theater professional touring company, Katricia is now the Director of the Dallas Black Theater Academy - which has been exposing the children of Dallas to all forms of dance since 1973.
