Get live updates and elections results from the Maryland, Nebraska and West Virginia primaries. Plus the latest news on Biden and Trump from the campaign trial.
The Biden campaign released a pair of ads aimed at Black and Hispanic voters on the issue of health care, which the campaign says will be under threat if Donald Trump returns to the White House. It’s the latest effort by Democrats to focus voters’ attention on the issue, which has helped their candidates over-perform in recent elections. The ad says Trump is the “best friend” of greedy corporations, presumably the ones responsible for high health-care costs.
The ad uses a mixture of Spanish and English, sometimes blending them in the same sentence. After noting, in English, that Biden’s actions lowered the price of insulin from up to $400 to $35, a narrator says, “Si, verdad, $35.” In the other ad, a Black woman in Atlanta says that “hundreds of thousands of Black Americans lost health-care insurance,” under Trump, citing a 2017 article from Business Insider. If Trump is reelected “he would cancel insurance for millions more of us,” a narrator says.
