Professors and administrators from over two dozen higher education institutions across Alabama are in town.

“We have representatives from all the teacher programs in the state. Because it is so important that we work together so the students in Alabama can learn mathematics in a meaningful way,” Dr. Angela Barlow said.

“This is an exciting time. First of all, just to get everyone in the same room. We have 24 EPP’s across the state. And to get everybody in the same room is just exciting and exhilarating,” Dr. Karen Anderson said. Some of the goals of the act include grade-level math mastery for all K-5 students by fifth grade as educators look to improve math scores across the state.

“Our goal is for every student to be able to engage mathematically and learn mathematics in a meaningful way. Of course to improve scores, but also to better inform citizens and folks who want to go on and do wonderful things in life,” Dr. Barlow said.Mobile PD: One man dead, six others injured in Friday night shooting
