After a trying first season at Texas, senior Dylan Disu has emerged as a critical part of a team many believe will challenge for an NCAA national championship.

But the kid was adamant. Not one for hyperbole, either, in the way so many other hungry high schoolers are when trying to impress those who need impressing.
Plenty has changed since that November 2016 game between Manor and Hendrickson. But at least one aspect of Disu’s younger self remains – his unwavering self-belief. Teammates and coaches lauded the work he put in behind the scenes last season but going from a borderline all-SEC starter to a reserve who averaged barely 10 minutes a game without losing heart required a tremendous amount of mental fortitude. And, of course, an innate ability to see what so many others couldn’t.
