Full list of benefits older people can no longer claim when they reach State Pension age

State Pension provides essential financial support every four weeks for 12.6 million people across Great Britain, including around one million living in Scotland. This regular payment of up to £203.85 per week for the full, New State Pension, or £156.20 per week for the old Basic State Pension is available for those who have reached the UK Government’s eligible retirement age, which increased to 66 for men and women in October 2020.

Your State Pension age is the same as your Pension Credit age unless you are a man born before December 6, 1953. You can check your State Pension age and whether you can start claiming Pension Credit on the 'Check your State Pension age' page of the GOV.UK website here. Use the Turn2us benefit calculator to see what benefits you’re entitled to, or get help from a benefits adviser. You cannot make a new claim for Disability Living Allowance , Personal Independence Payment or Adult Disability Payment - the new devolved disability benefit which is replacing PIP for people in Scotland - once you have reached State Pension age, however, if you were already receiving DLA, PIP, or ADP you can renew the claim even though you are over State Pension age.

People living in Scotland currently receiving DLA or PIP will be transferred to the new devolved Social Security Scotland system before the end of 2025.
