After Snitch was released in theaters on February 22, 2013, it went on to make a total of $57.
Netflix has now unveiled their global Top 10 English-language movies for the week of August 28 through September 3. Dwayne Johnson's Snitch has managed to land at No. 10 thanks to 2.3 million viewers accumulating a total of 4.1 million hours viewed. This has placed the movie in the same echelon as contemporary Netflix hits such as Heart of Stone and You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.
Why is Snitch Finding Success in 2023? There are quite a few reasons Snitch is making an impact a decade after leaving theaters. First and foremost is the Netflix bump. Any recently arrived movie to the service will get an immediate bump in viewership from subscribers looking for what's new. However, there are other factors that likely helped Snitch land in the Top 10.
One of the most important factors is the Snitch cast. In addition to starring Johnson, who has only become a more prominent global superstar in the meantime, the movie features performances from Susan Sarandon, Benjamin Bratt, Barry Pepper, and Michael K. Williams. On top of this A-list cast, the movie also features performances from people who would go on to even greater fame in the intervening years.
This includes Jon Bernthal, who led the Netflix Marvel show The Punisher after making Snitch. Also on hand is David Harbour, whose roles in Black Widow, Violent Night, and Netflix's Stranger Things have seen him conquer both the big and small screen in the years since Snitch. Fans of those stars may not have had reason to seek out the movie before it landed on the streaming service, but seem to have helped boost its viewership numbers once it arrived.
