Tensions rose at a Skokie Village Board meeting discussion on reappointing two Ethics Commissioners.

Johnson continued, “there’s an argument to be made that they should not have been allowed to even finish their term after repeatedly breaking the law during their duties.”

Johnson said it has cost the village $20,000 to hire James Ferolo, an outside attorney, to manage the ethics board. Van Dusen countered by saying that all of the village’s commissions and boards have staff liaisons. He said that while commission chairs give direction, it’s the staff that does the day-to-day kind of work.

Johnson said he didn’t mean to question anyone’s personhood. “I’m simply speaking about the performance reviews,” he said.
