Schapker said, “That was some of the needle we wanted to thread because we have such tremendous respect for the source material. Everyone is influenced by Frank Herbert’sin the writers room and everyone has treated Brian and Kevin J. Anderson’s novels like a seminal text for us. We are constantly turning back to source material. Denis’ films set a huge bar - I think unlockedfor so many people, in terms of just creating a world that was both mind-blowing, but also believable and grounded.
Even with all of the leadership responsibilities expected of Schapker as the showrunner on this larger-than-life television production, she has nothing but adoration for her manyShe said, “First of all, the cast to me, it’s like a second-to-none ensemble. Emily Watson has really been, to me, something I’ve looked at over her entire body of work as just one of the most truthful, powerful actors out there.
Now, as the hard work from so many arrives on the screen, I wondered what Schapker wants to say to loyal. I feel like that was something that infused all aspects of the production, and I think when you’re working with something that is as special as this and to understand this could be the beginning of manyis so interesting - I hope it is.
