Authorities have charged a motorist with vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal crash last summer in Gloucester County.

Anea J. Cook, 28, of Berlin, was driving an SUV northbound on Route 42 in Washington Township on Aug. 20 when police say the vehicle left the roadway around 3:45 a.m. and struck an overpass support structure.A passenger, Shaneira A. McPherson, 31, of Glassboro, was killed, while Cook suffered serious injuries, authorities said at the time.

Cook was allegedly “under the influence of an intoxicating liquor” at the time of the crash, police state in her criminal complaint, and she was charged June 14 with second-degree reckless death by auto.
