Big dollars raised Tuesday night for a big problem. The Baldwin County Drug Court Foundation held its annual fundraiser with guest speaker Dr. Drew.

Former FOX 10 Meteorologist Chasity Byrd lead the discussion with this year’s guest speaker Dr. Drew Pinsky. “Bodies get sick, hearts get sick, your pancreas gets sick… brains get sick. There’s nothing special about brain disease – except they happen to affect the organ that is associated with our cognition, personality, and our volition, and our motivation. And this is a motivational disorder – it’s a disorder of the brain – and should not be treated any differently than any other disorders of other parts of the body.
“We have probably a 75% to 80% success rate – for those who have successfully completed Drug Court – staying clean and sober for at least three years. So that’s huge,” said Wilters.
