Protesters have set fire to cars and thrown stones at officers as violence erupted in demonstration against the anti-Islam group Hard Line. Officials in a number of Muslim countries have condemned the move which sparked the unrest, after the Islamic holy book was burned by Danish-Swedish politician Rasmus Paludan, who leads the extremist anti-immigration party.
Clashes with police first erupted during protests on Thursday evening in the cities Linkoping and Norrkoping.Police in the latter city said they responded by firing warning shots and ‘three people seem to have been hit by ricochets’, before being taken to hospital with minor injuries.
