.DougBurgum's presidential campaign announced on Tuesday he qualified for the GOP primary debate. While the North Dakota governor remains relatively unknown in other states, his campaign is confident that his message will reach voters.
The governor's team cited the new Morning Consult weekly polling, which showed Burgum with 1%. The national poll standing satisfied the polling requirement he needed to meet.“Gov. Burgum is looking forward to sharing his focus on the economy, energy, and national security at the August debate,” campaign spokesman Lance Trover said. “In less than seven weeks, Gov. Burgum has exceeded all the requirements for the debate.
His campaign pointed to four polls that helped the candidate break through the polling criteria. By receiving 1% from both Morning Consult and a national JMC Analytics poll, along with 6% in a recent University of New Hampshire poll and 3% in a Fox Business poll of Iowa, Burgum met the requirement.Last week, Burgum met the fundraising requirement, racking up 40,000 unique donors.
