David Beckham has recalled being spat at in the street after irate fans blamed him for England's exit from the 1998 World Cup.
JON JOHNSON Several local tennis teams have had success on the state level recently and others have a chance this weekend to do the same when the USTA 65-over Alabama Championship tournament is held in Dothan Friday through Sunday.
Members of the 8.0 mixed team were James Crockett , Michael Johns, Sean McKeague, Brandon Bachman, Ashton Moss, Mariah Parker, Jessica Givens, Madison Laye and Nikki Anne Ballelos. In August, the Dothan men’s 18-over Tri-Level team and the ladies’ 18-over Tri-Level team won their local leagues and advanced to represent Dothan in the state championships held in Gulf Shores. The women’s team won the state championship and the men’s team placed second in the state.
“I think that playing tennis in the local leagues not only is a form of great exercise, it is a chance to meet other individuals in Dothan and the surrounding areas who enjoy playing a team sport,” Crowley said. “Westgate, Azalea and Dothan Country Club offer many lessons or clinics with their pros to learn the game of tennis or even brush up on your game if you have not played in a while.
