Imagine a Utah student not being allowed to take part in graduation activities because of a simple school lunch debt. Numbers show that students in the state are currently burdened with over $1.7 million in lunch debt, and one penalty could be not being able to walk with their class at graduation.
With the end of a pandemic-era relief program, families are being asked to help cover the costs to feed their children in school. FOX 13 is leading the charge to erase that debt, along with help from charitable Utahns, with the goal of raising $120,000 to help high school seniors eliminate their money owed.
