Just when you thought it couldn’t get any crazier in Dolton, the Park District says they’re now being politically targeted by Mayor Tiffany Henyard for, among other things, putting a new layer of mulch down on their playgrounds.
A new controversy is stirring in the south suburb of Dolton , where the Park District claims it is being politically targeted by Mayor Tiffany Henyard over routine maintenance work on playgrounds."I have four tickets issued from the village of Dolton . Each ticket is $500 apiece. That is $2000 in tickets that I have here," said Cleo Jones, Dolton Park District President.Jones said the Park District was stunned last week when they received citations for doing work without a permit.
The Park District also alleges that Henyard is holding up two major grants totaling $600,000 for park improvements by refusing to issue the necessary permits. The grants, one from Blue Cross Blue Shield and the other from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, are crucial for ongoing projects."We’ve gone to the village for permitting and they’ve been unresponsive.
