A whistleblower-led investigation found NYC school employees regularly took their children and grandchildren on trips in and out of the state that were meant for homeless students, New Orleans and other locations using tickets that were meant for homeless students, investigators said in a newly released report.
The special commissioner's office did not explain the lag in releasing the report and did not respond to requests for clarification. Some of the trips were intended as college tours, but the students and chaperones never actually visited the campuses, witnesses told the investigators.
