Saturday night’s fireball was seen in seven states and Canada, the American Meteor Society reports.

The reports generally say the fireball lasted a few seconds around 11:20 p.m. Saturday. The AMS currently estimates the object flashed high in the atmosphere above the Adirondacks in Upstate New York, north of Albany. “It fell down. Straight down, but seemed very far away … trailing sparks and smoke but only very close behind it as it fell,” reported one witness from the Pennsylvania borough of Delaware Water Gap.
