Dallas College is using funds from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to offer high-demand certifications in information technology through the CompTIA certification program.North Texas colleges aim to address workforce shortages in cybersecurity, automotive technology and other high-demand fields thanks to millions in new state grants.
Gloria Smith, Dallas College’s vice provost of workforce education, said in a statement that the college will invest its funds into offering high-demand certifications in information technology through the CompTIA certification program. Ashlee Ferguson, Hill College’s executive director of institutional advancement, said in a statement that the funds purchased 20 laptops for hands-on training and provided 20 vouchers for the school’s cybersecurity program certification exams.Tarrant County College officials were unable to comment on its $280,000 grant award because the school is closed for the holidays, a spokesperson said.
