CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns embattled quarterback Deshaun Watson was just heating up against the Bengals when he suffered an apparent non-contact Achilles injury.
Watson, who had just completed three straight passes and was threatening to even the score, suffered the injury on a draw play when he about to start up the middle and then stopped and crumpled to the ground. His right leg snapped and popped. Watson knew right away it was bad, looking to be in pain and distress. He had his head in his hands while down. While teammates surrounded Watson and prayed for him, the cart came and transported him to the locker room. He wore a towel over his head on his way to the locker room, while Dorian Thompson-Robinson warmed up.Thompson-Robinson had just been promoted to No. 2 QB before the game.
Watson was introduced to a chorus of boos, and was booed more during the game. But he got hot right before what appears to be a season-ending injury.
